Foreclosure prevention workshop to aid struggling homeowners

Chandler, AZ-- The City and the Arizona Foreclosure Prevention Task Force will present a free, four-hour event in March to help homeowners facing foreclosure.

The Foreclosure Intervention Workshop for Families will be held from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, March 17, at the Chandler Community Center, 125 E. Commonwealth Avenue.

"We will have lenders and Department of Housing and Urban Development counselors available to meet with struggling homeowners to help them understand their options and identify ways to avoid foreclosure," Mayor Jay Tibshraeny said.

Presentation topics include: Are You Upside Down on Your Mortgage?; Mortgage Scam Awareness; Short Sales – What You Need to Know Before You Sell Your Home, and; The HARP Refinance Program.

Participants seeking help are encouraged to bring copies of the following documents to the workshop:

-- Two most recent pay stubs showing year-to-date earnings
-- 2009 & 2010 signed income tax return or profit and loss statements
-- Recent utility bill to establish proof of residency
-- Two months of current bank statements (all pages)
-- Household expense budget
-- Most recent property insurance and mortgage statements
-- A written explanation letter detailing the reason for your hardship and/or mortgage delinquency

The Arizona Foreclosure Prevention Task Force is a non-profit volunteer organization created to reduce residential foreclosures in Arizona and the impact of foreclosure on families and communities.
