What:  Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport welcomes first flight from Spirit Airlines

When:  11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012

Where: Airport Administration Building, 5835 S. Sossaman Road

Who:    Media/General Public

Why:    Airport welcomes Spirit Airlines, the second airline offering passenger service in Mesa.

 

            All media are encouraged to attend as Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport welcomes the first flight from Spirit Airlines, which is scheduled to arrive from Last Vegas shortly after 11:30 a.m.  The inaugural flight will be welcomed by a water cannon salute, followed by a press conference.  Spirit is the second airline offering low-cost passenger service at the airport.

            Mesa Mayor Scott Smith, Gilbert Mayor and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Chair John Lewis, Spirit Airlines Director of Sales Michael Pewther, Mesa Convention and Visitors Bureau Interim President Milt Fort and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Sales Executive Veronica Fendt will participate in the event.  They will be available for questions afterwards.

           

NOTE:  This event is NOT at the terminal. It is at the Airport Administration Building.  You will be directed to a designated area on the tarmac for the ceremony and press conference.
