CRESCENT CROWN DISTRIBUTING and CITY OF MESA MARK OPENING
Owners and Executives from Crescent Crown Distributing, Mesa Mayor Scott Smith, Mesa City Council members and invited guests held a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony today for Crescent Crown’s new Mesa warehouse facility on Broadway Road between Alma School Road and Dobson Road.
The 335,000 square feet warehouse is the second new facility opened by the company in the Valley in the past three years. It includes 230,000 square feet of controlled temperature warehouse, 63,000 square feet of office space and 40,000 square feet of refrigerated space. The facility will service Crescent Crown’s East Valley business with approximately 400 employees and over 60 sales and delivery routes. This new building represents about 60% of the company’s total business in its Maricopa and Pinal County marketing area. It will be the corporate headquarters for the Arizona operations of Crescent Crown.
“Our business has evolved over the past eight years thanks to the hard work, dedication and focus of our employees along with the support of our valued customers here in the Greater Metro area. This new location recognizes our need to maximize operational efficiencies with a more modern facility to service our East Valley customers and provide our employees with the resources they need to sustain growth and drive productivity for the future”, says James R. (Bubba) Moffett, Jr, President of Crescent Crown. “The Broadway site is the ideal strategic location for our delivery system in the East Valley much in the same way our facility in Surprise benefits us logistically in the West Valley. The location provides our sales and operations personnel efficient access to three major arteries: Loop 101 to the West, Loop 202 to the North and U. S. 60 to the South, which was a key factor in the selection of this site.”
“Thanks to our partnership with the City of Mesa’s Mayor Smith, the City Council and the Economic Development Team who worked diligently to streamline the planning and construction process, allowed us to complete this critical project from ground breaking to completion in less than 12 months. This miraculous feat would never have been possible without the unwavering support of the City of Mesa and “world class” design and construction capabilities of LGE Construction”, added Moffett. “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with both of them and our hope is that this project will be an economic catalyst and spur many more development projects along the Broadway corridor and surrounding area.”
The new warehouse will utilize a 600 kilowatt roof-mounted solar array providing over 1,000,000 kilowatt hours of solar-generated electricity per year. This clean energy production will have a significant impact on the environment, saving 40.4 Million pounds of CO2 emissions over 25 years, which is the equivalent of planting 470,000 trees or taking 3,300 cars off the road. The new building will also utilize many of the energy efficient features of the company’s Surprise facility that opened in March of 2009, including LED lighting, motion detectors for light switches, variable drive motors for the HVAC system, plus many other ecological advances. The Company will also continue to run the two Hybrid delivery vehicles at these locations.
